Rain and snow

FROM THE DIRECTOR

BRING ON THE RAIN, PLEASE!!! As you know the Klamath Basin needs all the rain and snow it can get during winter and spring months. Everybody benefits; farmers, ag businesses and the people they employ. When people are employed, they need less help to care for themselves and it gives some relief to programs that are already stretched to the limits during this long recession that feels like it’s never going to end.

LET’S ALL KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED THAT THIS YEAR'S FARMING SEASON IS A GREAT ONE!!!

50-50-50
CHALLENGE

Niki's Challenge

Picture taken 12/28/11

Okay, why would the person who cannot stand having her picture taken, get on the food bank pallet scale and tell the world (well the Klamath Basin anyway) what she weighs?

I’m asking the community to help me raise $5,000 for the food bank. THE CATCH….You have to pledge $50 if I lose 50 pounds by my 50th Birthday which is the 5th of September.

Bringing in $5,000 in September would greatly help after summertime when our food stores are soooooooo very low.

DATELINE April 2012

I started my weight loss challenge January 9th. I’m not half the woman I use to be, but I have lost just over half (27 pounds) of my 50 pound goal. So, if you’re able to give us a hand now and then again in September, you’ll keep me motivated. Believe me, I need a lot of motivation to stay away from too much steak, potatoes, pasta, ice cream drumsticks, chicken drumsticks, nachos…But I digress and now I’m hungry

I’m doing it the right way. Exercise and eating right makes for good lifestyle changes because this is it! I’m never going back. I’m trading in fat and happy for just happy.

Visit klamathfoodbank.org and click on 50-50-50 Challenge and make your pledge today. You can call and make a pledge too.

32,000 POUNDS OF FOOD
FLYING OUT THE DOORS…..

EVERY WEEK

I can’t even imagine where we’d be if YOU weren’t there ALL YEAR LONG to help fill the plates of 6,300 household who find themselves needing some help putting food on the table. So many people coming through our doors cannot believe they even have to ask

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR MAKING IT A LITTLE EASIER FOR US & THEM

IT’S TIME ONCE AGAIN
FOR THE
FEINSTEIN CHALLENGE
GRANT $$$

Alan Shawn Feinstein with the Feinstein Foundation has put up his annual $1,000,000 CHALLENGE GRANT to fight hunger.

This challenge is so very important to the food bank. We get a bigger bang with your donated buck.

Remember we can yield up to 12 pounds of food per dollar donated.

Plus each can or package of food collected counts as a dollar towards the challenge. Just make your donation in person, by check or on- line, on or before April 30 to have it qualify for the challenge.

If the total donations raised towards the challenge exceed the challenge funds, the MILLION DOLLARS will be divided proportionately amongst the food programs that participated. WHAT A DEAL!!

Letter Carriers Food Drive

Look for that plastic bag in your mail box on Thursday, May 10th. All we ask is that you throw a couple of non-perishable food donations in the bag and set it on or by your mailbox. Your letter carrier will pick it up on Saturday, May 12.

SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE.

Garden of food

IT’S ALMOST GARDEN TIME!

Just a note to remind you that we can take produce you grow in your own garden. So when your friends and neighbors are running from you when they see you coming with ANOTHER zucchini, think of the food bank. We’ll take whatever garden produce you have. We can always find a good home for it.

IF YOU’VE RECENTLY MADE A DONATION TO THE FOOD BANK, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
