FROM THE DIRECTOR
Holy Moly, I officially begin my 17th
year with the food bank in May. I
remember when I started people
called me the food bank girl. Now
they call me the food bank lady.
Remember when you went from
being referred to as miss to ma’am
or dude to sir It’s just so, so, so,
well you know. Anyway…..
I want to take this opportunity to
let you know how important your
help is. If it weren't for your
financial support, food donations
and food drives over the years, I
honestly believe we would’ve had
to close our doors a long time ago.
We can still provide thousands of
quality food boxes and meals
because of every gift we receive large
or small. They all add up and
make the difference for one in four
households in Klamath and Lake
Counties.
THANK YOU
SO MUCH!
IT’S TIME ONCE AGAIN
FOR THE
FEINSTEIN CHALLENGE
GRANT $$$
Alan Shawn Feinstein with the
Feinstein Foundation has put up his
annual $1,000,000 CHALLENGE
GRANT to fight hunger.
This challenge is so very important
to the food bank. We get a bigger
bang with your donated buck.
Remember we can yield up to 10
pounds of food per dollar donated. Plus each can or package of food |
collected counts as a dollar towards
the challenge. Just make your
donation in person, by check or online,
on or before April 30 to have it
qualify for the challenge.
If the total donations raised
towards the challenge exceed the
challenge funds, the MILLION
DOLLARS will be divided
proportionately amongst the food
programs that participated. WHAT
A DEAL!!
ANOTHER WAY YOU CAN
HELP THE FOOD BANK WELL
INTO THE FUTURE:
As you know demand for the Food
Bank has increased. That’s why
we’re working to stabilize our
financial future—so that we’ll
always be here to provide
emergency food assistance to our
friends and neighbors in need.
To do this we’ve established an
endowment fund through the
Klamath Community Foundation.
The foundation will make it easier
for food bank donors to give
through their will or estate plan.
Allowing us to stay focused on our
mission.
The best part about this
endowment fund- over time it will
become a reliable source of income
that will benefit the community as a
whole.
This fund is for those of you who
want to look at assisting the food
bank into the future.
For more information about our
endowment fund please give Niki
Sampson a call, 541-882-1223.
To make a donation to the
endowment please make checks
payable to:
KCF/ Klamath-Lake
Counties Food Bank
Endowment Fund
P.O. Box 1903
Klamath
Falls, OR 97601
All donations to this fund are tax
deductible. |
Please consider partnering with us
in this important long term effort.
We are better together!
Remember, the gift you send
directly to the food bank today will
continue to provide immediate food
assistance to those who are
struggling to make ends meet.
LETTER CARRIER’S FOOD
DRIVE
MAY 11, 2013
Look for that plastic bag in your
mail box on Thursday, May 9th. All
we ask is that you throw a couple of
non-perishable food donations in
the bag and set it on or by your
mailbox. Your letter carrier will pick
it up on Saturday, May 11. SIMPLE,
SIMPLE, SIMPLE.

IT'S ALMOST GARDEN TIME!
Just a note to remind you that we
can take zucchini the size of small
children Any produce you grow
in your own garden we can accept.
If you’d like to grow a row for the
food bank, our produce wish list
includes corn, cherry or grape
tomatoes, peppers-from bell to
jalapeno and yellow crookneck
squash. So once again, when your
friends and neighbors are running
from you when they see you coming
with ANOTHER zucchini, think of the
food bank.
We’ll take whatever
garden produce you have. We can
always find a good home for it.
IF YOU’VE RECENTLY MADE A
DONATION TO THE FOOD BANK,
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! |
