ANNUAL REPORT 2010-11
Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank
Mission Statement
To Address Hunger By Providing Food To Emergency Food Assistance Programs And Support Other Non-Profit Agencies And Their Programs That Have A Positive Affect On The Lives Of Children And Adults In Klamath And Lake Counties.
What a busy, busy year! Many people are still struggling in this bad economy.
The food bank has not been recession proof either. However, thanks to the generous support of this community we’ve turned nobody away who needed some help.
We were able to provide 22,000 food boxes to those who needed them. We also provided food to assist in the preparation of almost 450,000 meals.
Lay-offs, work hours reduced and those on fixed incomes have found it harder to stretch their limited dollars. With the lack of employment available right now, we foresee more people looking for some help when unemployment benefits run out.
We’re distributing about 31,000 pounds of food weekly Let’s face it; we’ve all had a time in our lives where we needed a little support to get through the rough times.
Thanks to the volunteers who make this program work. Their efforts, their time and passion ensure everyone who needs a little help can get it. These volunteers gave 20,000 hours of their valuable time to the food bank and our affiliate programs in 2010-11.
For those who might need a little help, please call us or check out our website for places you can access food assistance. There’s no shame in asking for a little help now and then. When you get back on your feet, do what so many others have done; grab the kids and make a day of volunteering at the food bank. You’re giving back and helping the next family who may find themselves in a financial bind.
